Orphans Home, Instructions for completion of book using i-pad app. Book creator

description (first 2 paragraphs) and read with the students, have them ask
questions as a basis of discussion.
(purpose is so the understand what the home was and where it was.
2. Students will then go to the book creator
app. on their i-pads and go through the tutorial if they are unfamiliar with
the app.
3. Then they will begin their books, First they will complete the cover. On the
cover they will have a title for their book, a picture of the orphanage, and one
other item of their choice.
4. On page 2-3 students will define and give
examples of Jim Crow Laws and segregation.
students should have text, pictures, a famous quote on the topic and 2
other items of their choice.
5. On pages 4-5 students will describe the WV
Colored Orphans Home. This will be accomplished using a
search engine. On these pages students
should have, 3 pictures, 3 paragraphs,
and 1 source document.
6. On pages 5-6 students will compare/contrast
the WV Colored Orphans Home with the WV Children's Home at Elkins in Randolph
Co. (for white Children)
7. On pages 7-8 students will write 5 statements of conclusion based on the
information in their book.
8. pages 9-10 students will cite their sources
and list the page number in their book that links to the citation.
